Trillium was thrilled to host Rasin Wurie as our first summer intern from the 10,000 Black Interns programme, in alignment with our goals to attract and retain talented team members from groups that have been chronically underrepresented in the asset management industry.
Trillium Asset Management (‘Trillium’), a US pioneer in ESG investing with B-Corp status since 2008 and maintaining World’s Best Honoree for ten consecutive years, recently had the pleasure of supporting the “10,000 Black Interns” programme, hosting our first intern in the Edinburgh office (Trillium Asset Management UK Ltd. (‘Trillium UK’).
The 10,000 Black Interns programme started out as the #100blackinterns initiative with a pledge by a number of UK investment management firms to address the chronic underrepresentation of Black talent in the sector. Since its launch, the programme has garnered extraordinary support in the UK as a way of attracting a more diverse range of talent to the industry.
Trillium UK in Edinburgh was delighted to have been selected by the programme to host an intern. Rasin Wurie, who lives in Kirkcaldy, Scotland, and has just graduated from St Andrews University with a BSc degree in Neuroscience joined us in May 2022 for a 6-week placement. Rasin was able to garner real-life experience shadowing the team, sitting in on a range of ESG and investment discussions, as well as taking responsibility for a mini project appraising the lodging sector.
“I interned at Trillium Asset Management after applying to the 10,000 Black Interns programme seeking exposure to the asset management industry. From interviewing to the end of my internship programme, I have had an enjoyable and educational experience where I gained practical experience performing investment research while being exposed to an authentic experience of working in Trillium, and asset management in general. The Edinburgh team (who I mainly worked with) were incredibly welcoming and helpful, and provided many opportunities for me to ask questions, contribute and learn more about their operation and the wider company. I feel this experience has provided valuable insight into asset management which I can call back on in the future and will play a large part in informing my career choices and demonstrating relevant experience for similar roles.” - Raisin Wurie, Investment Intern
